How to get to Casa Tagomago
Casa Tagomago is located halfway between Granada and the Costa Tropical. Easily reached from both Granada and Malaga airports, below we give you more details.
The nearest airport to Casa Tagomago is the Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaen airport just 45 minutes from Restábal. This is a very small airport, receiving only a few flights from outside of Spain. Things are improving though and Easyjet now flies to Granada from London Gatwick, Manchester, Milan Malpensa, Napoles and Berlin Tegel. From September 2019 they are adding Bordeaux to the list. British Airways flies from London City. Vueling flies direct from Paris and has multiple connecting flights to other national and European destinations.
Malaga airport, on the other hand, receives flights from several Spanish airports, from all over Europe as well as connections with intercontinental flights. With the new coastal motorway, the A-7, the journey from Malaga airport to Casa Tagomago is now only about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
We recommend you take the coastal route from Malaga Airport to Casa Tagomago. Not only does this use the new A-7 motorway, which has far less traffic than the A-92 route, but it is also a really pleasant route scenically.
For those of you who prefer a train journey, the AVE, Spain’s High-Speed Railway, now connects Granada to Madrid and Barcelona as well as Cordoba and Zaragoza. Other connections are possible from stations on these main routes. For full details visit: RENFE

Some warmer clothes in spring and autumn, a good wind proof jacket is always useful. Be prepared to take off layers on sunny days.
Summer evenings can be cool so bring a sleeve or two to cover up.
Beach towels please.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any queries.
A car is essential in the Lecrín Valley and as we quite often have to rent a car at the airport, we would like to suggest these two car-hire companies to our guests.
Hire a car direct with this independent company at Malaga airport. Good service and reasonable prices. If you book your holiday at Casa Tagomago we can give you a discount code for hiring your car with malagacar.com. Please note that the code is not available on all car categories nor at all times of the year.
Find cheap car hire in Spain with Hispacar, a price comparison website with many search filters to make finding the most suitable rental vehicle really easy. We can recommend this site for hiring at Granada airport.
You will receive details of how to reach Restábal with your booking confirmation.
Where to Park in Restábal
Casa Tagomago is located on a pedestrian street so parking at the door is not an option. You can unload (and park, if space) in the small square just 15 metres from the house. Parking near the church is about 200 metres away.
Travel Safe, Travel Sure
I’m sure you will have already found your ideal travel insurance to cover your holiday. However, I doubt it will include the Excess on you car rental. We highly recommend taking out an excess insurance on your car hire with a company such as Questor. For very little extra your excess is covered.
Car Hire Tips
If you opt for an Excess Insurance, always remember to get the rental company to give you clear indications of any existing damage to the car before you drive away. Take your own photos as well. Not all companies are that fussy but it’s worth 10 minutes of your time. The other thing is to always make sure that you have enough credit on your card for the excess that the company will block. Always check that this is what they do and that they don’t actually charge the excess. For any more tips on car hire please do get in touch with us, we’re old hands at it!
