What to See and Do in the Lecrín Valley

“A perfect location for day trips to Granada, for hiking in the mountains of the Alpujarra region or a trip to the coast.”

Not to Be Missed – Our Top Ten

With a wide choice of things for you to do and places to go, we propose a list of the top ten things for all ages to enjoy whilst on holiday in your Lecrín Valley holiday home.

Restábal and the Lecrín Valley

Following the motorway from Granada to the Mediterranean coast, you come to the Lecrín Valley, leaving Sierra Nevada, its National Park and the Alpujarra to the East. 38 km from Granada and about 15 minutes from the A44, lies Restábal in the municipality of El Valle, which also includes the neighbouring villages of Melegís and Saleres.

Granada and the Alhambra

Granada is easily accessible from your Lecrín Valley holiday villa and makes an ideal day’s outing during your stay in Restábal. Situated on the north-western side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Granada is home to the famous Alhambra Palace and gardens. The old Moorish neighbourhood of the Albaicín, with its steep, winding, narrow streets and of Sacromonte, with its cave houses, perch on a hill opposite the Alhambra.

Sierra Nevada to the Costa Tropical

Sierra Nevada (“snowy range” in Spanish), or “Sulayr” in Arab “Mountain of the Sun”, spreads between the provinces of Granada and Almería. The mountain range is marked in the north by the city of Granada and rolls down south to the Costa Tropical, Granada’s Mediterranean coast. The Mulhacen (3.479 m.) is the highest mountain in the Iberian Peninsula and, together with La Veleta (3.398 m.), dominates Sierra Nevada and its National and Natural Parks.
