WELCOME TO CASA TAGOMAGO
Your Holiday Villa
Low Season 2019 May, June, September & October.
High Season 2019 July and August
“The peace. The views. The homely feeling of the house. True Spain.”
Welcome to your holiday villa in Restábal, the Lecrin Valley. A carefully restored, traditional village house, Casa Tagomago sleeps 6/8 people. Set on a corner plot on the edge of the village high above the terraced orchards below, the villa looks out over the orange groves, Lake Beznar and the village of Melegís, with Sierra Nevada beyond.
Ground Floor Living Area
Do come in and look round, as you can see the ground floor living area is furnished with comfortable armchairs and traditional decor, making for a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The wood burning stove adds extra warmth to autumn and winter evenings. The sitting room boasts large windows that open onto the patio with its small pool (3.5m x 2.5 approx.) and spectacular views over the Valley with Sierra Nevada in the background. The pool can be covered with a safety net for the protection of our smallest visitors. The dining table seats six to eight, children love the small side table for their meals too. The attractive table settings are for 12 people and there are plenty of glasses and mugs, as well as outdoor ware.
Leave the dining area and go through to the kitchen, equipped with everything you might need for a home from home holiday, fridge freezer, four ringed hob, electric oven and various appliances. Pots and pans in abundance to make cooking those holiday meals a joy. Adjacent to the kitchen is a utility/store-room, housing microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and larder. Next to this is a shower room (adapted for visitors with impaired mobility) with a walk-in shower.
Double Bedroom and Patio
If you cross the kitchen to the foot of the stairs, you will find a double bedroom with french doors opening on to the patio. Imagine waking in the morning to views over the patio and pool with the mountains beyond!
You’ll either want to stay in bed and stare or plunge straight into the water! Throw open those french windows and step out on to the patio. This is your special, private place for enjoying life “al fresco”. Loungers, parasol, tables and chairs and a barbecue for relaxing and dining in style. Can you see yourself soaking in the pool whilst contemplating that view?
First Floor Living Room and Bedrooms
The upstairs living room is ideal for watching TV or a film on DVD, playing a board game all together, reading Washington Irving’s “Tales of the Alhambra” or any other title from our small library. Equipped with a comfortable, double sofa bed and its own balcony, this space is also our extra bedroom. Leading off this room, you will find two twin bedrooms. Each of these rooms has a fitted cupboard, open shelving and its own balcony with views over the patio and the Valley. Next to this larger twin bedroom is a four piece, family bathroom, with bath and shower over and more storage space. All bed linen and towels are included, except beach towels.
We have one more thing to show you, a second staircase leads from this floor up to the roof terrace. Equipped with loungers, parasol, table and chairs, it is the perfect place to revel in the surrounding countryside, enjoy a sundowner, sunbathe, or just relax. We quite often eat here, making the most of the sun in autumn and spring.

From “House of Possibilities” to Casa Tagomago #1
We really enjoyed the renovation of the house. It was so satisfying to see that old, ramshackle abode come back to life again, transformed into a comfortable and attractive holiday home. We are grateful to all those involved in this project and, although there were a few hiccups and frustrations, we can safely say that it was a pretty problem free restoration. Now that we know the village and many of its inhabitants, some of whom are related to the previous owners of the house, we hope that Casa Tagomago perhaps serves as a small tribute…
From “House of Possibilities” to Casa Tagomago #2
On our next visit to Restábal in October, the demolition of the animal pens, rotten beams and ceilings was well underway. We arrived just in time to deal with what could have been a major crisis! Originally, we liked chestnut beams but found them a tad over budget, so had decided on pine instead. Unfortunately, these were unavailable at that moment and were needed the following week! We hadn’t realised that the beams are not just decorative, they actually support the ceiling and the floor above. In the way ceilings have been built in the Valley and …
